December 28th, 2009 - Stash Report Week #52

Hurray! We’re done for the year. And I plan on doing better next year. Right!

Fabric added this week: 0 yds

Fabric added YTD: 285.72 yds

Fabric used this week: 3 yds

Fabric used YTD: 248.54 yds

Net fabric busted: -37.18 yds

I would have like to use 100 yards for the year. If only I never bought any fabric. But then I may not have made so many things either. Next year I plan on trying a little harder. Try to make do or go without.  I’m sure I’ll slip a little but I’m only human and it wouldn’t be as much fun.

Have a great day and a wonderful, productive New Year.

December 20th, 2009 - Stash Report Week # 51

One more week to go. Can we all do it? Well I know for certain that I won’t be meeting my goals. I’m not going to stress out about it but I’ll be making some changes for next year. Like not buying fabric. Ha, ha, ha! I was thinking that’s the only change I could make to reach my goal but I guess I could just sew more too.

Fabric added this week: .25 yds which was a BOM

Fabric added YTD: 285.72 yds

Fabric used this week: 2.78 yds

Fabric used YTD: 245.54 yds

Net fabric busted: -40.18 yds

If I sew like a crazy person and don’t do anything else , maybe I can get in the positives. I don’t think I’ll be going there.

Have a great day. Enjoy the holidays.

December 13th, 2009 - Two Weeks To Go

Crap! Only 2 more weeks to bust at least 42 yards to get in the good. I’ve been very naughty these last 2 weeks but it was so much fun. I have enough projects to last for a few years so next year’s stash report should be amazing. Right?

This last week was a flop in the sewing department. I had therapy every other day and I really didn’t do much else. The cold weather takes a lot out of me until I get used to it. Thank God winter only lasts a few months. I hope it won’t be too snowy like last year or cold either. The cold is easier to handle than the snow. The snow tires you out faster than the cold. For those of you who don’t know it, I deliver mail for a living. Four more years to go and then I can finally retire. God willing that is.

Okay enough moaning about something I can’t change- the weather that is! Here’s my stash report and don’t laugh.

Fabric used this week: 0 yds

Fabric used YTD: 242.76 yds

Fabric added this week and last week too: 29.36 yds

Fabric added YTD: 285.47 yds

Net fabric busted: -42.71 yds

Now to sew a few projects. Too bad it isn’t my fabric I’m using. My niece asked me to do a few projects for her and she’ll be here Dec. 27. That means sew, sew, sew!!!

Have a great day and stay warm and cozy.

December 7th, 2009 - Stash Report Week # 49

Well, better late than never. We had an eventful weekend. Our car had tranny problems and we had to have it towed back to Windsor from Grayling MI. And now it’s at the dealership and they can’t find anything wrong with it yet. Do they think we imagined it and wanted to go through all this hassle? Anyway it’s not really my car but a lease and I’m not  going to buy this car out at the lease end.

Anyway on a brighter note, while I was visiting in Charlevoix it was their Christmas walk through town. I stopped in at the quilt shop Hearts to Holly and entered a drawing for a gift card. My great-niece wanted her aunt to win and the owner, Sue, let her draw the ticket. Guess what? She picked my name! Isn’t that great!!!! I won a $25- gift card. So I did what any quilter would do-I spent it and then some. I got some great fabric and a quilt kit. I didn’t have time to add up all the yardage so I’ll count that in next week’s report.

Fabric added this week: 0 yds

Fabric added YTD: 256.11 yds

Fabric used this week: .25 yds

Fabric used YTD: 242.76 yds

Net fabric busted: -13.35 yds

I had better do a lot of sewing this week to even out my purchases. I also have a few projects to do for my niece that I’d like to get done before they come down at Christmas.

Have a great week.

Let us sew, let us sew, let us sew!

November 29th, 2009 - Stash Report Week #48

Four more weeks! Yeah that’s right, we only have 4 more weeks to get to our goals- whatever they are or were for some of us. I haven’t been sewing all that much but I’ve been watching all the sales this last week. Not fabric sales but Christmas sales. I have a bit of shopping to do and it takes lots of time to find the best price but sometimes you get to the point that you just buy it and who cares about the price. I’m not to that point yet.

So here’s my measly little stash report.

Fabric added this week: 0 yds again. Yeah me!

Fabric added YTD: 256.11 yds

Fabric used this week: 1.78 yds

Fabric used YTD: 242.51 yds

Net fabric busted: -13.6 yds

Have a great week and bust some fabric! Hopefully.

November 22nd, 2009 - Stash Report Week #47

Only 5 weeks to go before I give up for this year. But I must say, I’ve used quite a bit of fabric this week. I’ve been good and didn’t even buy anything when I went to the LQS and looked around for a muse. I went home and found my groove and decided to start some Christmas projects. Or should I say finish some that I started  1 or 2 years ago. They are 2 panels of “Santa’s Got The Goods” and I think I have enough to do the fronts and I’ll be doing pieced backs from my stash. The only thing about these 2 quilts is the size requires 4 yards for the backing but I think they figured it out all wrong. How can a quilt that measures 50×52 need 4 yards for the backing. According to my calculations it only need 3 yards. And then I can use the leftovers from the first one for the second one and only use 1.5 yards for the second. Got it? Sounds like a plan to me.

Fabric added this week: 0 yds

Fabric added YTD: 256.11 yds

Fabric used this week: 13.75 yds

Fabric used YTD: 240.73 yds

Net fabric busted: -15.38 yds

If I get the panels done and a few more journal covers and  find a few quilts that need backs and  so on, I might be in a really good position. Closer to that zero. And I have to stay out of quilt shops.

Have a great day.

November 15th, 2009 - Stash Report Week #46

So I bought more fabric. And if I knew how to make the photos smaller I would show you a picture of it. Ever since I got this new laptop I can’t figure out how to resize my pics. My son did it once for me and he can’t remember how he did it. New OS suck especially when you just figured out how to use the old one.

Fabric added this week: 10 yds and it’s really cool stuff and not for the stash

Fabric added YTD: 256.11 yds

Fabric used this week: 5.19 yds

Fabric used YTD: 226.98 yds

Net fabric busted: -29.13 yds

That all for now. Have a great day!

November 9th, 2009 - Stash Report Week #45

Oh my! I had a little backslide this week but I’m planning on using this fabric in the coming week so I should be okay.

Fabric added this week: 15.67 yds It sure adds up!

Fabric added YTD: 246.11 yds

Fabric used this week: 3.75 yds

Fabric used YTD: 221.79 yds

 Net fabric busted: -24.32 yds

I hope I don’t buy any more fabric for the rest of the year.  I hope!!!

November 1st, 2009 - Stash Week #44

Slowly but surely, I’m creeping closer to the positives. As long as I don’t buy any fabric and make 10 or so quilts by the end of the year I should reach my goal. Like that’s going to happen! But at least I’m aware. Isn’t that one of the objectives of this report? Well it’s one of mine.

Fabric added this week: 0 yds

Fabric added YTD: 230.44 yds

Fabric used this week: 2.43 yds

Fabric used YTD: 218.04 yds

Net fabric busted: -12.4 yds

I made a few more of the photo wallhangings. I need to dye or paint some dryer sheets. They make the most perfect leaves and greenery. The gauziness of them blends all the raw edges  of the green snippets and makes it look like leaves up in a tree.

During the week I drove a friend of my son’s home and she said that some people were standing in front of her house taking pictures of their tree. And later in the week on my mail route I was walking through some leaves the same colour as her tree and I had this great idea. All I needed was a picture of the same kind of tree with the same colour leaves all on the ground. I asked my sister to get me such picture and she asked me where this tree was. I said it doesn’t matter where it was, it’s just needs to be a tree in those colours. She thinks I’m nuts. She takes all my photos for me. I just tell her what I want and she shoots away. You know when you get an idea in your head and every other idea is stuck in neutral. I think I better take my sister out to get me that photo.

Have a great weekend.

October 18th, 2009 - Stash report Week # 42

I just said to my mom” Did you know that the year ends in 10 weeks?” and she goes”Does it?”. Well it does and that means I’m one year closer to retirement. And you thought I was going to say something about stash busting. Ha, ha, ha! Well,  I never used any fabric this week and I am glad to say that I never bought any fabric either.
