January 7th, 2018 - Stash Report Jan 7 2018

Once again I’m going to try to do weekly stash posts. Last year I kind of fell of the wagon but I did keep track on paper just not here. So here goes.

Fabric used this week: 0.97 yds

Fabric used year to date: 0.97 yds

Fabric added this year: 0 yds

Net fabric busted: 0.97 yds

I’m also trying to sew at least 1 hour every day. Whether it’s hand stitching or machine sewing, I need to be doing something. I have too much stuff to let it sit and way too many projects that I’d like to get done in my lifetime.

So this week’s projects will include making 2 little zippered bags using my die cutter, which I fixed last night, from fabric that’s not even mine. But if there’s a lining involved, I can count that. I will post pictures when I’m done.

See you next time!

[…] Here we are at the first Sunday Stash of the year. If you would like to link up for the first time, here are the rules. Everyone makes up their own. We report the fabric we add and the fabric we use with the hope of using more than we add. Some people report usage when the quilt is finished, others when the fabric is sewn and some when the fabric is cut. I report adds from anything I buy, win or am gifted, but some only count what they buy. I do not count fabric donated to me for the specific purpose of making charity items because I don’t consider it mine. I store it separate from my fabric so there is no confusion. You are also welcome to report yarn. I’m not a knitter and I don’t have much of a yarn stash. I do a little crochet here and there, but I rarely buy yarn. I just don’t have anything to report. You should do whatever works best for you. The goal is to be more conscious of what we add. I know I’ve left fabric on the shelf many times once I thought about how I’d use it and when, if ever. You do not have to report every week either. Some of us do, but others report monthly or when they have something to report. It’s all about what works best for you. I had no fabric added or used this week. It was one of those weeks where a lot of effort yielded few results. Every time I touched the applique project I made it worse rather than better. Finally I gave up and did something else. How did you do this week? 1. Julie in GA 2. Melissa G 3. Melanie 4. Mary-Kay […]

A great start to 2018 on stash busting. If you are looking for someplace to report on your stitching time each week, I’ve got a 15 Minutes to Stitch Challenge on my blog. It’s mainly a way to make sure I get in the sewing room everyday. I’m not stuck on the 15 minutes, just how much time I can manage most of the time.
