September 1st, 2013 - The Stash
I see I’ve been slacking off in the blogging field. I catch up on all your news but never tell anyone mine. So here goes. I buy way too much fabric and I better stop soon. Actually, I’ll be stopping once the year comes to an end because I’ll be retired. I put my papers in and I’ll be officially retired by the end of this year. I can’t wait! I have so much to do and so many quilts to make and so many places to go and………. You get my drift.
Now let’s talk about my ever growing stash. It needs a diet which I’m hoping to put it on this week. I need to get some of these quilt tops finished. I think there are 25 tops that need backings and to be quilted. Imagine how much stash that would use up! Now let’s look at the numbers.
Fabric used this week: 5.41 yds
Fabric used YTD: 122.59 yds
Fabric added this week: 24 yds
Fabric added YTD: 133.03 yds
Net fabric busted: -10.44 yds
My friend asked me to help her mother make a quilt for her great granddaughter. Her mother is ill and can’t shop, so I went to the quilt shop to pick out some fabric for her and came home with 24 yards. I didn’t know a baby quilt would take so much fabric. Seeing as I was out of town, I couldn’t just take a picture of the fabric, I had to buy the fabric and hope that it was what she wanted. I think I could make at least 6 baby quilts with all this ‘what if’ fabric. Lucky for me, I like it all and there are always babies being born who would like a nice cozy quilt to cuddle under.
Okay, so I’m off the clean so I can spend this whole week quilting. Have a great day and enjoy this last weekend of the summer.
